Recently, the cybersecurity firm CyberArk released a global report revealing alarming findings. It stated that the economic landscape and technological innovation have expanded the cybersecurity threat landscape.
This issue poses a serious risk to identity, particularly with the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), as cited in VentureBeat on Tuesday, June 20, 2023.
CyberArk conducted this research in collaboration with the research company Vanson Bourne. The survey involved 2,300 private and public cybersecurity decision-makers employed in organizations with over 500 employees, spread across 16 countries.
The findings indicate that nearly all organizations are anticipating identity-targeted attacks. This anticipation is based on various factors such as geopolitical issues, the global economy, cloud adoption, and hybrid work schemes.
On the other hand, 93 percent of surveyed security professionals express concerns about the proliferation of AI-powered malware. They believe this threat will impact their organizations in 2023.
The emergence of these security issues is influenced by the increasing number of companies migrating to cloud services. Consequently, 68 percent of respondents plan to implement security based on Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) within the next 12 months.
Surprisingly, 86 percent of survey participants admitted to experiencing ransomware attacks in the past year. However, 60 percent of them opted to pay the ransom to recover from these attacks.
Not only do organizations face threats from malware, but 68 percent of respondents also consider internal employees as potential cybersecurity threats in 2023.
